January 14th, 2009 A DECLARATION: 2009

Overwhelmed, by definition, means to “overpower in thought and feeling”.  This past year has been overwhelming and I declare, I think 2009 will be too! 

First, let me thank everyone who has stuck by us and those who haven’t. 

It’s an obvious conclusion one can come to when declaring appreciation for those who have supported us, but those who haven’t?

In Jack Canefield’s book (Jack happens to be one of my favorite authors), he shares that before each of his staff meetings he encourages his employees to share with him what 10 things he’s doing wrong.  He practices this with his family too.

Now, not many people go looking for criticism.  It’s painful.  Other people’s criticism forces us face to face with the realities of our human imperfectness.

But Jack isn’t mad.  It’s his way of learning what things he can work on to have better relationships with people.  Now do you see why I love Jack?

I want to declare the same and open my door to hear your criticisms.  They’re important.

Now, before you start to beat down the doors of my password secured email, you should know that I’ve already observed the following and am making a sincere attempt to get things right.

1.  Customer service sucks.  People call and then wait, sometimes for days, before they get a call back.

In my defense I want you all to know that I’ve looked into answering services.  So far, the least expensive option is to:

 A.  Hire a part-time receptionist.

or

B. Hire an answering service.

None of these options are affordable at this juncture, so you might still be stuck with hoping you can reach me on the phone or by email but know that as soon as I have the ability to hire a PA (personal assistant), I will.  Also know that I am working on getting every call and email I receive answered.  Believe me, I get very annoyed when I call someone and don’t get an expected call back. 

I value each and every correspondence.  Your concerns are very much my concerns.

To demonstrate this better this year, I’ve organized my files, time and schedule to better accomodate your needs.  We will have regulary AH days, days wherein you’re invited FREE to come and see the farm, animals and projects we are doing.  AH, and is SPA…or Ahhhh, aren’t the little lambs cute! days.  These days will be published to the website.

I will also have dedicated days where I will only return calls. 

I’ve also heard the need for more affordability which leads me to:

2.  My services are hard to schedule and never enough!

In today’s economy it’s more important than ever to be able to resolve problems quickly and get your money’s worth.  One of the most frustrating aspects of my work is not being able to help people more.

To resolve this, I am implementing a schedule of mini-clinics where we can work on smaller aspects of you and your horse.  These mini-clinics will give you the opportunity to target the concepts, issues and goals you wish to accomplish, all within a couple of hours.

Each of these mini-clinics will be video-taped and made available to you for purchase at a reasonable price.  These clips will also be posted to the website were you will be able download them as you need them.  This will allow you to pick and choose areas you wish to explore.  Our target price for the clips will be $3.99/clip.  Longer segments may be more.

I’ve heard your need for concrete, definite and helpful information.  And will answer your need to be educated, have fun and still save time and money.

For the impassioned, I will offer several longer sessions where you can focus more on your own brand of renewal.

3.  You want to be informed, get more information and be a part of a bigger picture.

American Express is fond of saying, membership has its perks!  Well, now you can have perks with me too!

This part of what I am doing this year to be an even better provider to you is my most favorite.  I will host monthly coffees.  Sometimes these will be scheduled at the farm, sometimes satellite in various locations.  Either way, you will be able to attend personally if you like, or…via your phone or computer!  If you can’t attend, we’ll record the coffee dates and you can download them or dial in, whenever its convenient for you!
